The True Story of Cinderella, part one

The True Story of Cinderella

Once upon a time, there was a girl who recently had lost her mother to an illness. Her father, now a widower, was a rich merchant and often gone on faraway travels. Therefore he thought it was only his duty to remarry, so that his only daughter did not miss the company of a mother. He choose an equally rich widow of noble birth with two girls of her own, and they settled in nicely at the merchant's country house, close to the capital.

These good days did not last, however. One day it happened, that the merchant did not come home from his most recent journey. A messenger brought them the sad news of his death, and a quiet funeral was held. His beloved daughter was, of course, devastated. She was a very beautiful young lady, with curly golden locks and even features that was like milk and honey, with lips red as the roses of love.

Her personality, however, was another thing entirely. Her stepsisters were pretty girls, but not as beautiful as her, and after her father had died, her true colours was revealed. Before his death, she had been a bit vain, and liked to show off her beauty, but afterwards, she was downright horrible. Her stepmother, a regal-looking but generally kind woman, tried at first to explain her behaviour that she had grief after her father, but the months passed and the harmony in the country house was not restored.

The merchant's daughter shouted at her stepsisters. She borrowed her stepsisters' dresses and necklaces and accidentally dropped them or get them irreparably dirty or ripped. She did not obey orders, lied and told rumours. She stole money from her stepmother's purse and tried to get the servant girl accused. Her stepmother tried to punish her with various household chores and with letting her wear the dresses she had ruined for the stepmother's own daughters, but the girl went into the village and complained for the old madams, who felt sorry for her because of her father, and the boys, who was dazed by her beauty. She could be charming when she wanted to, so soon the village turned away from the cruel stepmother, who abused a grieving girl. In the village, and the villages and towns around, the merchant's daughter got the name Cinderella.

And here it is, the first part of my Cinderella. Any thoughts? Is my Cinderella better than the original? Do you want to read more? I feel it is better that I divide the story into smaller parts, so it is easier to read.

It hasn't happened much here, was at college today and wrote on my story (not Cinderella - another story) yesterday, when I had my day off. I think I will write a bit more tonight.

So see you later!

Always good at writing stories. I loved it. It's always nice to get a brand new version of such a famous story. Can't wait to read the rest!! Please put them up on a regular basis, because otherwise it might be hard to keep up.
